Kinderjog is Dominican Kindergarten's only fundraiser of the year. It is held on the school grounds in early May (May 4, 2012 - this school year) and lasts approximately one hour. Along with their teacher and director, Sister Jane Estoesta, all kindergarteners walk, jog, or run a circular course for an hour, hoping to make sponsors pay for their effort and energy and to send money to various organizations and charities.
Kinderjog is also about instilling life-long values. The students learn the importance of giving back to the community and it is amazing to see that instilled at a young age. They really get an understanding of the money that's tied into their effort of running or jogging and the students can see how they help others.
Prior to Kinderjog, the students ask for pledges or sponsorships from Saint Joseph School families, St. Joseph Parish community and other sources such as their own families, relatives, friends and neighbors. They also sell raffle tickets and donated items by several merchants and businesses are raffled-off for prizes. With the help of a parent committee, funds are also raised through a silent auction which is held at the Kinderjog Family Thank You Dinner.
Kinderjog involves an unbelievable amount of work where parents begin working voluntarily on the event as early as January. A fearless Kindergarten parent leads this event as Kinderjog Chair. Another parent usually steps up to the plate as the event's Co-Chair. All other parents organize themselves and help in the following committees:
| Merchant Solicitation |
Raffle Ticket and Sales |
| Donation and Pledge Control |
Logo / T-Shirt Design and Banner |
| Communication and Publicity |
Family Basket |
| Event and Course Logistics |
Food and Hospitality |
| Event Photographers and Videographers |
Awards and Certificates |
| Kinderjog Family Thank You Dinner (Cinco De Mayo Dinner) |

Physical exercise and conditioning are key components of Kinderjog. The students walk, run or jog a mile each day with their teacher. On the day of Kinderjog, the pre-race warmup includes stretching, rhythmic movements and jumping jacks.
With your help of a monetary sponsorship or raffle donation, Dominican Kindergarten can continue to support the early development of our young citizens and support the community in which we all live.
